PriceLog · flights from Tel Aviv

How do you know if a flight price is really low?

PriceLog collects flight prices from Tel Aviv every 6 hours and keeps them. When a price is especially low compared with the prices collected for the same destination, it is published here.

How it works

How does PriceLog choose which flights to publish?

Not every low price is published. Every flight is held to the same rules, whatever commission the booking site pays on it.

  1. Collecting prices

Every 6 hours PriceLog collects flight prices from Tel Aviv to each destination, one way and round trip. Each price is stored as it was found and is never changed afterward.

  2. Comparing with the destination's median

Each new price is compared with the median of all the prices collected for the same destination and trip type, across every departure date. The median is the price in the middle: half the prices are above it and half below. Comparing starts only after at least 200 prices have been collected.

  3. Only an especially low price

A flight is published only if its price is at least 40% below the median, and also among the lowest 10% of the prices collected for the destination.

  4. The data beside every flight

Each flight's page shows the price, the median it was measured against, how many prices were collected, and when the price was found.

When a flight is not published:
  • The price was found more than 48 hours ago
  • The flight departs in less than 7 days
  • The flight, or its return, departs more than 330 days from now
  • The same flight was already published in the past week
  • A flight to the same destination, of the same trip type, was already published today

Good to know: for now the median covers all departure dates together, with no split by season. So a price in a cheap season can look exceptional even if it is common for that season. Once enough data has built up, comparing by season will be possible.

Why history matters

A flight for $150. Cheap or expensive?

Without knowing what earlier flights to the same destination cost, it is hard to say. That is why PriceLog keeps every price it collects, and compares each new price with them.

Destinations

The destinations with a page on the site.

PriceLog collects prices for 102 destinations. 60 of them are shown here, the ones that already have a page on the site. A flight to a destination is published only after at least 200 prices have been collected for it.

Before you book

The prices on this site are not updated in real time.

Every price on the site was found in a search someone already made, so each flight shows when its price was found. Seats sell and prices rise, so confirm the price on the booking site before you decide.
